Ca 1750 - Louis XIV Baluster - 燭台 - Brass - メーカーズマーク“LB”

Antique Dutch/Flemish Louis XIV Brass Baluster Candlestick – 18th Century – Maker’s Mark “LB” - Ca 1750 A handsome antique yellow-brass candlestick in the Louis XIV / Baroque tradition, probably of Dutch or Flemish origin. The heavy, finely proportioned form features a turned baluster stem, stepped octagonal foot and a faceted candle socket. A particularly characteristic detail is the round side opening in the socket, a traditional ejection hole used to help remove a burnt-down candle or remaining wax. The stepped octagonal base gives the candlestick a strong, architectural appearance. The underside displays authentic traces of age, hand-finishing and historic use. The base is clearly stamped with a “LB” maker’s mark. The exterior has been carefully polished, revealing the warm golden colour of the brass while retaining attractive age character, including minor surface marks and traces of verdigris/patina inside the socket and underneath. Specifications Object: Antique brass candlestick Style: Louis XIV / Baroque Origin: Probably Netherlands or Flanders Period: Approximately 18th century (approximately 250–300 years old) Material: Heavy cast brass Maker’s mark: “LB”, stamped on the base Height: approx. 18.5 cm Base: approx. 10 x 10 cm Weight: approx. 425 g Condition: Excellent antique condition, structurally sound with no wobble or repairs.
