イコン - ヴォロネジの主教ミトロファン、奇跡の聖人 - Wood

An authentic 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon depicting Saint Mitrofan, the 1st Bishop of Voronezh and Wonderworker (Святой Митрофан Воронежский). Saint Mitrofan was canonized in 1832, making this a classic and highly venerated subject of the Imperial Russian era. In the upper left corner, a small inset icon of the Mother of God with Child is depicted. The icon is painted on a wooden panel and comes housed in its original, deep wooden Kiot (kiwot) frame with a beautiful gilt inner border. A major highlight for collectors is the original antique glass protecting the icon. It features characteristic historical imperfections, including visible vertical lines, waves, and thickness variations typical of 19th-century mouth-blown cylinder glass. Condition Report: Icon: The painted surface shows honest age. There is noticeable paint and gesso loss (flaking) along the bottom edge of the saint's robes, revealing the bare wood underneath. The upper half and the face of the saint remain well-preserved with sharp details and readable Cyrillic inscriptions. Kiot Frame & Glass: The wooden frame is solid with a beautiful dark patina and age-related wear. The original wavy glass is intact, free of cracks.
