Model History: Introduced in 1960, the Bulova Accutron represented a major milestone in electronic watchmaking. Instead of a conventional balance wheel, its movement was regulated by an electronically driven tuning fork vibrating at 360 Hz. This technology gave the Accutron its characteristic low hum and exceptionally smooth-moving seconds hand. The Spaceview originated as a display concept intended to demonstrate the revolutionary Accutron mechanism. Its conventional dial was removed so that customers could see the tuning fork, coils, electronic components and gear train in operation. The futuristic appearance proved so popular that Bulova developed the Spaceview into a commercially available model. This example is the distinctive reference 770, often called the Spaceview “T”. Introduced around 1969, it is characterised by its large tonneau-shaped stainless-steel case, broad chapter ring and open presentation of the calibre 214 movement. The open Spaceview display is particularly well preserved. The turquoise-coloured movement plate, tuning fork, coils, electronic components and gear train remain visually clean and vibrant. The white hands and contrasting orange seconds hand are also in excellent condition. The original acrylic crystal is clear and scratch-free. It retains the correct printed Bulova Accutron signature that forms an integral part of the Spaceview display. The broad grey chapter ring is similarly clean and well preserved. The signed Bulova stainless-steel bracelet and folding clasp are in excellent overall condition, with only very light marks attributable to storage or handling. Together with the watch, the bracelet accommodates wrists up to approximately 17.5 cm. A new battery has been fitted, and the watch is functioning correctly.
