Chinese porcelain teapot -China On offer is an early and very rare Chinese porcelain teapot, nicely decorated with floral motifs inspired by Delft faience decorations from Holland. Dutch (Delft) pottery with Chinese designs were very popular both at home and abroad, in the second half of the 17th century. This pottery with Chinese inspired decoration was a response by Dutch potters to the high demand for the beloved but relatively expensive Chinese porcelain. Due to this popularity, the Chinese in turn were inspired to use “Dutch-like” decorations, based on examples of Delft pottery to be brought over, on Chinese porcelain! The porcelain body of this teapot is very white and the glaze is greasy;Very rare example! Provenance; From the private collection of a deceased collector from North Holland. Size: length from ear to tip of spout app. 14 cm, Height 8,5 cm. Condition: Good, showcase ready. a hairline of round shape iniating from a firing fault at the spout-base, has been professionally restored. Some minor spots of glaze-loss at the lid rim.
