Vintage Japanese Woodworking Tools – 8 Chisels & 3 Traditional Hand Tools – 11-Piece Set Item Description A vintage Japanese hand tool set consisting of 11 pieces in total: 8 chisels and 3 hammer-like striking/forming tools. The eight chisels come in a variety of blade shapes and widths, including flat blades, broad blades, and a distinctive U-shaped/forked tool. The exact original purpose of the U-shaped example is uncertain; it may be a specialized woodworking or craft tool, and it is included here as part of the chisel group. The three long iron tools have unusual and varied head shapes. They appear to be specialized traditional hand tools rather than ordinary modern claw hammers, but their precise applications have not been confirmed. Their distinctive forms make the set particularly interesting as a collection of old Japanese workshop tools. The chisels have wooden handles with iron or steel blades and fittings. One example has a decorative handle label. The tools show substantial signs of age and long-term use, including considerable rust, oxidation, discoloration, scratches, wear, stains, and deterioration to some wooden handles. Some cutting edges also show wear and surface corrosion. These are vintage used tools and are offered on the assumption that cleaning, rust removal, sharpening, restoration, or other maintenance may be required before use. The aged patina has been left largely intact. Please carefully examine all photographs for the individual shapes, condition, blade edges, handles, rust, and other signs of age. The photographs with the measuring tape should also be used as a reference for dimensions.
