A fine Dutch (possibly Delft) music box shaped as a street organ (draaiorgel), measuring circa 23cm in length and weighing 706g, decorated in polychrome enamels and annotated to the reverse with IHF 1959 and Hospes Hospiti Sacer, a Latin phrase that translates as "A guest is sacred to the host". This object commemorates the April 1959 Congress of the International Hotel Association that took place in Amsterdam, with some delegations being invited to Paleis Soestdijk for meetings hosted by the queen. The music boxes were commissioned as gifts for the international participants. Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. Minimal wear. The music box works very well. This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
