卓越したリコペルタ化石魚 - 動物化石 - Lycoptera Davidii - 8.5 cm - 9 cm (No reserve price)

Beautiful and highly decorative fossil fish belonging to the genus Lycoptera, preserved on its original fine-grained sedimentary matrix from China. The specimen displays very good anatomical preservation, with the skull, vertebral column, ribs, fins and caudal region clearly visible. The articulated skeleton contrasts attractively with the pale matrix, giving the fossil a strong display presence. Lycoptera was a small freshwater teleost fish characteristic of the Early Cretaceous deposits of northeastern China, particularly associated with the famous Jehol fossil ecosystems. The fossil is preserved diagonally across the slab, allowing most of the body structure to be observed in a single view. The reverse of the plate has been left largely natural and is shown in the photographs. Fossil: Lycoptera sp. Type: Fossil freshwater fish Origin: China Period: Early Cretaceous Age: Approximately 125–120 million years Material: Fossil fish in sedimentary matrix Preservation: Articulated specimen with visible skull, vertebral column, ribs and fins Natural fractures, matrix irregularities and traces of preparation may be present, as expected in an authentic fossil specimen of this age. A very attractive and highly displayable fossil, ideal for a natural history, fossil fish or Early Cretaceous collection. The photographs form an integral part of the description and show the actual specimen offered.
