Japanese inrō with three compartments featuring two cranes, Kajikawa saku signed with Ei seal, Edo period, 19th century, lacquered wood with maki-e gold and red lacquer, with kirigane inlay, measuring 7.5 cm high and 5.2 cm wide, acquired from a auction house in Europe in 1960, authentic original and in good condition with cord and two ojime.

**二羽の鶴を描く日本の印籠—加木川家—江戸時代、19世紀**
三室に分かれた日本の elegant な印籠で、署名 *Kajikawa saku*、赤い印章 *Ei* を佩用し、著名な蒔絵家の一族である加木川家に帰属するとされる。その家系は特に徳川幕府の将軍のためにも多くの作品を手掛けた。
深い黒漆の roiro の背景の上に、非常に滑らかに磨かれた繊細な水景が展開され、二羽の鶴が生き生きと描かれている。最初の鶴は金地の岸に立ち、細長い首を伸ばして長い雲へと向かう;裏面には、二番目の鶴が舞い降り、翼を大きく開いている。鳥の動き、水のさざ波、風景の控えめさが、視覚的な美の均衡を生み出している。
装飾は日本の伝統的な漆芸技法を組み合わせている: *hiramaki-e*、 *takamaki-e*、 *kirigane* の嵌入、金粉のふくれ。鶴の頭部の赤い点が全体をさりげなく引き立てる。販売資料によれば、内側の室は *nashiji*(蒔絵の錦)で飾られ、縁には *fundame* の金継ぎが施されている。
印籠には cordon と二つの *ojime* が付属する:一つは色を付けた象牙で、透かし細工が施されている。もう一つは銅製で、花の意匠が描かれ、 *Harumasa* と公表されている署名が刻まれている。その印籠との同時代性は確定していない。
**英国由来で特に興味深い provenance**
この作例には1960年代まで遡る文献記録があり、ロンドンでの二度の公開販売を経て、英国の美術収蔵の伝統を継ぐトムキンソン家によって取得された。その後の歴史的参照と対応文書は作品に付属する Mimosa 証明書に記されている。
署名 *Kajikawa saku* と印章 *Ei* の組み合わせは、ウォルターズ美術館や東京富士美術館など、複数の博物館コレクションにも文献的な対応例が見られるが、個々の作作者を特定するには至っていない。
**保存状態:** 古美品として良好。微細な擦傷と使用痕、 *kirigane* の局所的欠損、縁の一部に目立たない摩耗、蓋の微小なへこみ。漆の全体的な輝きは良く、装飾は概ね保存されている。
