Description from the seller
item Description
A sculptural incense burner in the form of a coiled dragon, finished in a dark bronze-toned patina. The dragon rests on a low rectangular stand with shaped, arched feet and holds a pearl in one claw. Its tail rises in a tall, sweeping arc and ends in a flame-like tuft. A small round censer hangs from a hook on the tail.
The censer has a pierced, openwork lid with a floral motif. Characters are engraved around the rim of the lid. The body is a plain, smooth bowl, and the lid is attached with a small hinge. The dragon's head, scales and dorsal spines are finely cast, with good relief and detail. The dragon is fixed to the base with a brass-coloured screw, visible on the underside.
