Arthur Worrall Staniforth - フルーツナイフ - .925 silver, 真珠貝 - シェフィールド 1898
An elegant late Victorian folding fruit knife by Arthur Worrall Staniforth, Sheffield, 1898.
The sterling silver blade bears full British hallmarks, including the Sheffield assay mark, lion passant, date letter and maker's mark A.S.
The beautifully iridescent mother-of-pearl handle is finely engraved with floral and foliate motifs. One side features an elaborate arrangement of flowers and scrolling foliage, while the reverse is decorated with a delicate central flower. The handle is fitted with a metal bolster featuring decorative reeded detailing.
A charming example of late Victorian craftsmanship, combining a practical silver blade with the refined decorative qualities of engraved mother-of-pearl.
The knife is in very good antique condition overall. The mother-of-pearl panels are particularly well preserved, with no obvious cracks or significant losses. The silver blade displays surface scratches, minor marks and signs of age-related wear, as shown in the photographs.
Blade length: 5.5 cm.
Overall length when open: 10 cm.
