The Montblanc PIX No. 273 is a scarce mechanical pencil from the mid-1950s, produced only for a relatively short period around 1954–1956. It was designed as a matching pencil for Montblanc fountain pens such as the No. 252, 254 and 264, sharing their characteristic post-war styling and compact proportions. The 273 uses Montblanc’s classic PIX push-button repeater mechanism and takes 1.18 mm lead, the standard size for quality mechanical pencils of the period. With its short production run, close association with some of Montblanc’s best-known 1950s fountain pens and characteristic PIX construction, the No. 273 is a particularly attractive model for collectors of vintage Montblanc writing instruments.
