I am selling a Marantz Model 5000 Stereo Cassette Deck in exceptionally good cosmetic and technical condition. The unit has been thoroughly disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and serviced. Worn and defective components have been replaced. Maintenance and Repairs Performed Mechanism: Thoroughly cleaned to remove old, partially deteriorated belt residue and hardened grease. All relevant mechanical components have been freshly lubricated. Drive Belts: All old belts have been replaced with new, high-quality belts from Thakker. Cassette Compartment: A cracked plastic gear in the cassette door damping mechanism was replaced with a new, precisely 3D-printed replacement part matching the original dimensions. The cassette compartment now opens smoothly and gently. Motor: The original motor had a so-called “dead spot” issue, occasionally preventing it from starting on its own. It was replaced with a brand-new Mabuchi EG-530AD-2B motor with corresponding technical specifications. The motor speed was adjusted after installation. Electronics: Resistors, capacitors, and fuses were inspected. No further issues were detected. Known Issue Unfortunately, the left VU meter is not working. The audio signal reaches the meter, but the needle does not respond. One of the delicate internal springs is likely damaged or deformed. An attempt to repair the meter was unsuccessful. The right VU meter works perfectly. All tape transport functions, including automatic shut-off, are fully operational.
