今週は、皆さまに素晴らしい鉱物をご紹介します。
このクラスターは、見事な標本です。表面は、互いにかみ合う何十もの黄鉄鉱結晶で覆われています。
結晶は目を見張るような明るい黄金色で、光を受けてあらゆる方向にきらめきます。
全体として驚くほどの光沢と輝きを放ち、クラスター全体が純金でできているかのようです。近くで見ると、黄鉄鉱結晶の精緻で幾何学的な模様が見て取れ、一つひとつがそれぞれ独特の方法で光を反射しています。結晶の縁は鋭く、くっきりとしており、奥行きと複雑さをいっそう際立たせています。この黄鉄鉱クラスターはペルーのアンカシュ地方にあるワンサラ鉱山産で、世界有数の美しい黄鉄鉱標本を産出することで知られています。黄金色は硫化鉄によるもので、金属光沢と独特の真鍮のような色合いをもたらしています。
総じて、この大きく、黄金色に輝く光沢豊かな黄鉄鉱クラスターは、鉱物の世界が生み出した真の驚異です。一見ごくありふれた素材にも見られる、美しさと複雑さを示す見事な一例です。
