**Old Maps** is a digital restoration studio dedicated to preserving historic cartography and giving remarkable maps from the past a new life. Our work begins with original historical maps — documents created centuries ago to record how people understood the world, its cities, coastlines, trade routes, territories, and distant lands. Every map carries more than geographic information. It also preserves the design, craftsmanship, printing techniques, typography, symbols, and imagination of its time. We carefully restore selected maps digitally, working to improve clarity while respecting the character of the original. Fading, discoloration, distracting marks, damaged areas, uneven tones, and signs of age may be carefully reduced when appropriate, while important historical details, inscriptions, decorative elements, and original cartographic information are preserved. The purpose of restoration is not to make an old map look new. It is to allow the original work to be seen again. Color, contrast, definition, and overall balance may be refined so that coastlines, illustrations, lettering, borders, and engraved details can be appreciated more clearly, while maintaining the atmosphere and visual history that make each map unique. We believe restoration should be thoughtful and restrained. Natural signs of age can be part of a map's beauty, and not every imperfection should disappear. Our goal is to preserve the integrity of the original while preparing it for a new generation of collectors, history lovers, travelers, and interiors. Once restored, selected maps are carefully prepared as high-quality art prints in formats suitable for contemporary homes, offices, libraries, studies, hotels, and collections. Each piece connects two moments in time: the world as it was once imagined and the world in which the map is viewed today. At **Old Maps**, we are not redesigning history. We are preserving it — **one map at a time.** oldmaps.art
