The Beomaster 5000 is a highly selective and sensitive FM stereo tuner with low-distortion multiplex adaptor featuring a high degree of channel separation. It has a 4-section gang-tuned radio-frequency amplifier with separate oscillator, five-stage intermediate-frequency amplifier, automatic frequency control, and automatic stereo/mono switching. 
The quality of construction of this model went even beyond B&O’s normal high standard, in particular the casework was manufactured to professional standards, as the Beomaster 5000 was intended for broadcast as well as domestic applications.

The Beomaster 5000 FM tuner from 1967 was among the first products designed by Jacob Jensen for Bang & Olufsen. 
At the spring fair in Hanover same year, Beomaster 5000 received the IF award (The IF Industrial Forum Design) for outstanding and user-friendly design. In 1978 the Museum of Modern Art launched the exhibition “Design for Sound by Jakob Jensen” with 28 products including the Beomaster 5000 plus 11 other designs from B&O.
