Good condition, tested and working

Akai X201 tape recorder, made in Japan, with serial number A 11007-01435.
This tape recorder is one without fuss that does what it’s supposed to do, play music.

Very solid tape deck with the famed Akai Crossfield recording system and auto reverse options.
This late Crossfield also has a low speed and can now be called a classic.
With 3 heads, so playback during recording is possible.
Recordings per track 1-3 and 2-4 are possible and stereo.

Technical data:

4-track, 2-channel, stereo/double mono system.
Tape speed 4.75, 9.5 and 19 cm per second.
Frequency range 40-22,000 Hz at 19 cm/sec,
40 -18,000Hz at 9.5 cm/sec and 40- 9,000 Hz at 4.75 cm/sec (+/- 3dB).
3 heads for erasing, recording/playback, and separate recording of bias signal (Crossfield head).
Three motors. Belt drive to the capstan and direct drive to the forwarding/rewinding discs.
Manual reverse by means of buttons on the head cover or automatically at the end of the tape by means of contact foil on the tape (so it can be used for continuous use with the right tape).
Choose between stereo or single track via switch on head cover.
Line in and line out via combined DIN plug or Cinch plug.
Separate microphone inputs for left and right (convenient for recordings with 2 singers for example).
Headphone output.
Tape speed equaliser.
Complete in wooden laminated casing with cover and user manual / technical specifications (English/German).
Including 5 reels of which 1 is empty and 1 half-full.

Dimensions: 34.5 cm wide, 34.5 cm high and 22.5 cm high, weighs over 16.5 kilograms.

The tape deck is in good condition, tested and working.
