Granaries are small sized earthen grain silos on stilts. A ladder is used for access. The size and height of these pantries may vary; they are used to store dry or smoked food, substances for fetish use, shea and all kinds of foods or any important substances for the granary’s owner. In Mali, such patterns on doors are warnings such as: ‘be warned, do not open that door!’.
