Davide Cocozza - Rejoice

Davide Cocozza - Rejoice
Mixed media, Silkscreen/Serigraph - Signed - 2019

Davide Cocozza is an artist and performer who lives and works in Italy, between Rome, Pescara, Bari and Bologna. He prefers to paint on large-sized wrapping paper. He also created installations and objects of fashion and design. Many collaborations with the world of art, fashion and cinema. The choice of subjects is almost always of an erotic or dramatic nature. The use of the ‘wrapping paper’ support characterises the artist's style who, through it, underlines the evanescent, fragile and perishable aspect of existence, but at the same time leads to taking more care of it and treating it better. Mixed media are used, ranging from acrylic, to oil, to felt-tip pens, all used at the same time. Performances instead assume a symbolic and primitive meaning, developing into actions that can evoke shamanic rituals and initiation, in an essential and virgin sense. The artist and his model go on a journey towards the loss of social conditioning, prejudices and superstructures in a short time, getting completely undressed during the performance. Only when both are completely naked does he begin to create a pictorial work forged from a form similar to action painting; in which the artist and model write an emotional and intense dialogue made up of strong signs and colours. To date he has won many awards, and he exhibited and participated in exhibitions and events around the world, he collaborated with several galleries and auction houses. On the Italian scene, he remains one of the leading exponents of figurative art and contemporary performance art.
