Based on the very large painting (327 x 487 cm) of Monsiau, a French painter, drawer and illustrator made between 1806 and 1808 and listed MV1500 in the Collections of the Historic Gallery of Versailles.

The First Consul Bonaparte decided to bring together the Italian deputies of the Cisalpine Republic. This republic, created after the first Italian campaign, includes Lombardy, Mantua, Bergamo, Brescia, Verona, Cremona, Rovigo, Modena, Massa and Carrara and three legations from Bologna, Ferrara and Romagna. Four hundred and fifty-two deputies are invited to sit but this is a parody of assembly, members are sorted, the agenda is imposed and pressure is exerted to approve what Napoleon wants
