XVIII CENTURY HALF VELLUM BINDING WITH BOARDS COVERED BY PAPER DECORATED WITH FLORAL MOTIFS; spine with three raised bands. Edges worn. Handwritten title piece applied on spine. Two tears (p. 305 and 312) skillfully repaired. Upper margin of first 5 leaves browned; the upper margin of the mock title is frayed. Slight waterstain in the external margin of the first and last leaves. First 5 leaves with the upper margin slightly shorter (few mm) than the following ones. Some leaf uniformly browned, due the quality of the paper. Some browning / foxing to some page (e.g. title page, p. 297), but in general a good copy of this scarce work.
VERY SCARCE AND IMPORTANT WORK DEALING WITH THE EIGHTY YEARS' WAR (1568 - 1648), ENDED IN 1648 WITH THE PEACE OF WESTPHALIA. THE DUTCH REPUBLIC BECAME, FOR ALL INTENTS, WAS RECOGNISED AS INDEPENDENT, FREED FROM THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE.
