Great Monstrans (1) - Fire gilded
France - Second half 19th century

Very large antique Catholic fire-gilded altar monstrance relic shrine.
Also heavy, package will weigh more than 5 kg.
The monstrance has a long history. The object stems from Medieval reliquaries with relics of saints, often displayed on the altar.
Very nice and complete item, behind the double gate, the slide with cross on top.
Has traces of ageing, see pictures.
However, it is still a unique item that is seldom seen.
This one is finished with 36 gemstones made of red garnet.
Garnet is the stone of abundance, this was already a well-known and widely used stone in antiquity, it is the stone for hope, courage and faith.
