Eduarda Emilia Maino was born in Milan on October 2, 1930. In 1957 she met Piero Manzoni with whom she established a deep friendship. The following year she joined the avant-garde in Milan and realized her first cycle of works, i Volumi, canvases perforated by large elliptical holes reminiscent of the Buchi by Fontana.
In 1959 she joined Azimuth, formed by Agostino Bonalumi, Enrico Castellani and Manzoni.
Dadamaino invents a series of graphic signs with which she meticulously fills her works. With the Alphabet of the Mind, she creates seven alphabetical characters with which she composes a series of letters in which she systematically repeats a single sign. She died in Milan on April 13th, 2004.
