Original woodblock print - Keisai Eisen (1790-1848) - 'Nanabito 七人 (?) of the Ebiya' - From the series "Keisei rokkasen" 傾城六佳僊 (Six Castle Topplers) - ca. 1828-30
this wood engraving is by Keisai Eisen (1798-1848) and from the "Keisei rokkasen" 城 六 佳 僊 (Six Château Topplers) series.
Keisai Eisen (渓斎英泉?, 1790 - 1848) is a Japanese stamp artist in the ukiyo-e style (Japanese xylography style) who specialised in bijinga or "paintings of very beautiful people".
This one is a very beautiful Japanese print depicting the portrait of a pretty woman (bijinga), for which Eisen was renowned at the time. It has been preserved and in good condition despite its age!
