Okimono - Elephant ivory - Very fine carving of a bearded man - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)
A very detailed carving of a bearded man looking to the side as he walks, probably greeting somebody on the side of the road. Therefore not paying attention and risking to stumble over a rock. Very good facial expression for a small okimono.
Good condition with only some small age cracks. The bottom slab possibly not elephant ivory in contrast to the rest but apparently of the same period.
Careful shipping with insurance.
A report from an expert is added to confirm the age and the fact it can be sold in the EU. Bidders outside the EU should check own laws on import of antique ivory.
