The Romans loved silverware.
In 1868, a luxurious stash of treasure dating from the Roman era was found at the foot of Galgenberg, which dominates Hildesheim (small town in Lower Saxony).
From 1874, Christofle made an electroplated reproduction of all the pieces of treasure.
