Yanda figurine of the Mani cult - Azande - Congo DRC

Description
Yanda figurine of the Mani cult - Azande - Congo DRC
1st half 20th century - Vintage - used with visible signs of wear

36 x 13 cm.
Wood.
Former collector, former Zaire/Belgium.
Brought back at the independence.

Figurine of the Mani from the Azande of northern D.R Congo.
They have created many Yanda or Banda figurines for this initiatory cult. However, their styles vary, since the Zande are established on a quite vast territory.
In this case, we can note little strong arms separate from the body.
The detailed face is surprisingly devoid of mouth.
