SAM car radiator.
The SAM (initials of Società Automobili e Motori) was a car manufacturer active in Legnano between 1922 and 1928.
Once he acquired the company in Legnano, Vaghi founded SAM in 1923. Under the technical direction of Eng. Anatolio Bellani, they started producing the three-wheeled vehicle designed by Ghioldi, with no substantial differences, immediately accompanied by the four-wheeled version. The ‘SAM tipo 23 A Cyclecar Vaghi’ with three or four wheels was offered with open Spyder bodywork or with internal drive. The two-seater car was equipped with a 1,100 cm³ air-cooled V-twin engine, which allowed remarkable speed performances, also considering the low dry weight of about 350 kg.

When put to the test, on 29th April 1923, the Sam 23A vehicles were lined up at the International Cyclecar Grand Prix of Milan, which took place in the Circuit of Monza over a distance of 300 km. The three SAM 23A won the first three places in the ranking, surprisingly beating the Anzani team, even setting the category record on the lap, at an average speed of 94 km/h.
