These binoculars were made in 1938 by the company Kern in Aarau in Switzerland.
The firm Kern is known for their top quality optical instruments, such as binoculars (both military and civilian), surveying equipment, visors and quality optics for photo and film cameras. Kern has been acquired by Leica.
This is a 6x24 viewer; so it enlarges 6x, has a front lens diameter of 24 mm, and a step pupil of 24:6=4 mm.
The viewer does not have a central focus but eyepiece focus on both sides, as often with military viewers.
A horizontal and vertical degree scale is visible in the left part.
Both the oculars and the central kink point are rotating well. Weight: 645 grams.
The image is sharp but very lifeless, foggy and contrast-poor, indicating tarnish on the internal optical components.
As a daily user viewer less suitable, as a collector’s item very worthwhile!
Will be packaged well and sent by registered mail.
