Beautiful woodcut on hand-laid paper after the original from ca. 1509 by grandmaster Albrecht Dürer with the depiction of Jesus Christ nailed to the cross.
With monogram in the plate on the lower right. As number 23 from the series De Kleine Passie ('The Small Passion' or 'Die kleine Passion'). On verso with East Indian ink numbered with 21. Framed behind acid-free mat.
Condition: in very good condition. Some minor signs of use also to the mat, but nothing shows when it is framed. For its age (16th/17th century), still very beautiful! See the photos.

Albrecht Dürer (Neurenberg, 21 May 1471 - Neurenberg, 6 April 1528) was a German painter, draughtsman, maker of wood and copper engravings, art theorist, and humanist from the Northern Renaissance. The rise of the art of printmaking, parallel to that of book printing, made Albrecht Dürer the most popular and influential Northern European artist from that period. His studio specialised in printing techniques. Especially the copper engraving made a large print issue possible.
