Etching - Hand signed - *

Beautiful etching by Albert Baertsoen - 'Vieilles maisons zélande' (old Zeeland houses). Ghent (1866-1922).

Albert Baertsoen (Ghent, 9 January 1866 – there, 9 June 1922) was a Belgian painter, pastel and graphic artist.

Born in Ghent, the son of an industrial-textile baron.
Painted landscapes and especially cityscapes, but also etchings and pencil drawings.
The choice of subjects - Ghent, canals, old walls, quays and boats on the rivers - and the typical atmosphere that the master manages to express with his brushed touch give a predominantly sombre atmosphere of melancholy, but often with a discreet light effect of the reflection of the sun at dusk, or the luminosity of the snow landscapes. He was a friend of Emile Claus and played a major role in the cultural scene of his time.

This etching is in extremely good condition, it was perfectly framed and was hand-signed.

Will be packed and shipped with care.
