English Air Ministry Rattrapante split-second stopwatch.
In this case an Air Ministry depth charge timer, A:M 6B/140.
In original packaging, there is a note with the name of the owner /officer.
He flew on a Sunderland flying boat, these were used by coastal command for the hunt for U-boats with depth charges.
This movement was indispensable for this purpose, they were used to measure the intervals between shedding, coming down and exploding and adjusting the following depth charges.
These timepieces were especially intended for that.
They are very rare nowadays, especially these.
The last picture shows a description of the timepiece on an English RAF site, ending with: A scarce very hight quality timepiece.
The timepiece had a service in March and therefore does not need to be looked at in the next few years!!!
