Fine Isikimanji figure of the Dengese people living in Congo.
These figures are royal and chiefs figures, which hold the power and clothing of the old king after he dies; these are transferred to the new king in elaborate enthronement ceremonies.
The statue is covered by numerous scarifications all over the body.
Both hands on the belly. Fine patina.
The piece is now in my personal Dutch collection.
