Old Pende mask characterized by a "big" rond nose.
Mask with a lot of volume and an internal very nice carving work
Mbuya masks are characterized by a triangular and convex face, heavy eyelids lowered, triangular too, and a line of eyebrows forming a "V".
We can still note a nose generally rolled up with wide open nostrils and a toothed mouth.
"Mbuya" masks used to be used in circumcision rituals. Then they were desecrated for entertainment, during real comedy scenes highlighting many everyday characters: the chef, the wives, the old men, tradespeople and also animals ...
