On 20th December 2008, witnesses from several places in Morocco observed a meteor with a trajectory from W to E. According to the local newspaper Al Massae (of 27th December), residents of the high mountains of the High Atlas (between Marrakech and Ouazazate) heard a noise and felt a retort. The largest impact pit is located near Oued Aachir (1.10 m in diameter and 70 cm deep, 31 ° 09.8′N, 7 ° 00.9′W), with a stone weighing more than 30 kg and many small fragments. A second stone is smaller (about 20 cm in diameter and 10 cm deep; 31 ° 09.9′N 07 ° 02.3′W) located 2 km W from the first; the main mass of the second impact was probably about 500 g. Nine new impact coordinates were reported by S. Buhl and M. Aid, and P. Thomas reported 3 other impacts. A dotted field of at least 25 km long and 2 km wide was drawn.
