Icon, Mother of God of unexpected Joy (1) - Wood - Late 19th century

Icon, Mother of God of unexpected Joy (1) - Wood - Late 19th century

Russian icon from late 19th / early 20th century painted with tempera and gold. The icon represents the Madonna, dressed in red with the child Jesus in her left hand. To the left of the icon a man dressed in green kneels in worship. The edges of the icon are decorated with beautiful geometric motifs. The icon is, as usual, not entirely straight, but a bit rounded.

Underneath the Madonna there is a text with black letters on a white background that I can't decipher. The title is at the very bottom, which consists of two or three words.

Condition: some loss of paint on the front. At the back woodworm that is no longer active. A piece of wood on the right is gone (see photos), restorations

It will be carefully packaged and sent by insured mail by Bpost or PostNL.
