IGOR BALBI | SCORPION | 2019
Collection - Master of Murano Glass - unique pieces handmade by the artist
Artwork no. 28
Sculpture in Murano glass by the master glassworker Igor Balbi, made using the lume (flameworking) technique entirely handmade, a unique piece.
Dimensions: L10 x 8 x 7 cm
Mint condition.
Elegant and refined creation of a Scorpion sculpture in shades of yellow and opal orange.
The scorpion is characterised by a finely crafted body with different shades of yellow and a shade of black, the front claws and the legs are defined with incredible precision.
The long tail is composed of several shaded spheres in shades of yellow and orange and ends with the characteristic sting.
With more than 20 years of learning and experimentation in Murano, Balbi has transcended the tradition to perfect his own personal lume (flameworking) technique that takes his name, recognised and studied by the Corning Museum of Glass.
His mastery, which makes his pieces unique amongst their kind, allows him to achieve colouration, patterns, shapes and effects that appear to be technically and chemically impossible. His glass pieces become lightweight and echo nature in all of their forms, crystallised in a single breath.
This artwork is part of the collection 'Master of Murano Glass - Contemporary', 701 original glass works of art made by Muranese experts and carefully curated by i-AM Foundation.
Each artwork is accompanied by the certificate of authenticity and is amongst the works being offered in the catalogue in production, by UNIQUE Edition Press, Milan.
