The Model No. 6840 table lamp is one of the lamps designed by Christian Dell for German lighting manufacturers “Gebr. Kaiser & Co”. The Kaiser Idell 6840 belongs to the collection “Idell”. The name of this collection is derived from the combination of the word “Idee” (German for idea) and the last name of its designer “Dell”.

Christian Dell was a German Silversmith who went to the school of arts in Weimar. In the 1920s he was the technical director of the metal workshop at the Weimar Bauhaus. In the 1930s Christian Dell designed numerous lights for various German lighting manufacturers.

The Kaiser Idell 6840 has a sleek design and features a metal base, with an orange (outside) and white (inside) lacquered metal shade. The light switch is on top of the shade. This item is in original vintage condition; it has no defects, but shows age-related patina and wear, with two very small dents in the shade. See the photo’s for the condition.
