Rare 16th-century work, published in Genoa by the illustrious Genoese family Pallavicino (the family coat of arms is engraved on the title page) Illustrated with many animated drop caps, headers and friezes at the top of the page.
The text is entirely in Italian.
A treatise dealing with a topic typical of the politics of the Baroque age: it deals not only with the role of the "adviser to the prince", but is also conceived as "advice to advisers", that is, what is appropriate for them to know and observe, on the basis of prudence and discretion. The work then examines more generally the virtues of the advisers in the various fields of politics and public administration. The scholar Innocenzo Ghisi wrote the history of the Cybo family, and for these services he was granted the privilege of adding the surname of the powerful family to his own; he wrote works on theology, rhetoric and commendation. Soprani, pp. 191-2. Italian 17th century. Books in the B.L.,
Half leather back binding with gold titles on the spine and marbled plates. Copy in excellent condition. Fresh interior on light paper. Brilliant ink. Pages with wide margins, in excellent condition. Pp. 3f. 27; complete.
