Gourd Phallocrypt (Penis Sheath) from Papua New Guinea Traditionally, phallocrypts were worn by men as everyday dress in New Guinea and are still worn by some men in remote areas in the West Papua province of Indonesia. They may also be worn during ceremonies in the Papua New Guinea (an independent country on the eastern side of the island). Phallocrypts from the Sepik River area in Papua New Guinea are usually made by the women who weave a knotted design made from bilum string around each gourd and add seeds for tassels. It has also been painted as are many weaving's from New Guinea. This is handmade from bulim fiber.
