Sven Hoffmann developed his Shaped Photographs from an exploration of the theme of water. Starting with motifs that the imagination discovers in the structures and reflections of a water surface - similar to cloud formations - he cuts his photographs printed on aluminium composite panels into shapes such as the "green dragon" offered here from a photograph of the surface of the Mekong River in Cambodia.
Sven Hoffmann, born in 1965, studied painting and photography at the renowned University of the Arts in Berlin in the 1990s. He received numerous prizes and scholarships and became internationally known with his water art project "Aqua Globalis". He has performed solo shows and participated in trade fairs in Brazil, China, Germany, France, Georgia, the USA, Poland and Switzerland, among other countries. Numerous books have been published about his work, including the "Aqua Globalis" and the "Strenge Damen" series.
