Small pipes with case. The smaller they were, the finer and more valuable. In the 1850s, they were worked in Hungary. Later on, the meerschaum imported from Turkey was processed and worked in Vienna, Austria.
- 1. Meerschaum pipe depicting a king or a prince with a dog. With a carved finish, amber mouthpiece. The case shows the words: “Au 100.000 pipes – E. Schmitt Fbt Paris – Place de l’Hotel de Ville 68, rue de Tivoli”.
Used and worn; the right arm is partly missing. The case shows signs of ageing.
Length: 92 mm; central shank diameter: 16 mm.
- 2. Meerschaum pipe depicting a small horse. With a carved finish, amber mouthpiece. The case shows the words: “Garantirt Echtmeerschaum”.
Used and worn, A part of a shank is detached. The case shows signs of ageing and does nor close well.
