Original and signed. Beautiful grainy "Tsubo" vase made in famous Shigaraki region. The black glaze has a deep shiny reflections and the front displays original unique colors by the potter.
The vase is sold with its original wooden box with indication on the potter and provenance. The box show traces of aging but the vase has never been on display so it is in mint condition.
Shigaraki ware is one of ‘The Six Old Kilns’ in Japan made in Shigaraki, Koga shi, Shiga Prefecture. Shigaraki is the area once flourished as a center of Japanese culture in the middle of Kamakura period, with a strong influence of Korean culture. Originated around 12th century, spreading outward from Tokoname and Atsumi.
