The Craigellachie distillery (which means rocky hill in Gaelic) is a sure bet in Speyside in Scotland. If you like peated whiskeys, now is the time to try Craigellachie, a perfectly fleshy whisky. Non-chill filtered and guaranteed without artificial color, this 23 year old is mellow and voluptuous. It has the color of white Chardonnay wines, thanks to the American white oak barrels. Already very soft on the nose, with complex aromas of marzipan and a little wood smoke. The texture in the mouth is oily and voluptuous. A small drop of water increases the aromas and taste tenfold. It also adds a hint of mint. It’s a slightly unusual but delicious whiskey.
