The B7 RS4 was the first generation to feature a 4.2l naturally aspirated V8 in the engine bay.
The extraordinary performance of 420 hp was transferred to all 4-wheels via a 6 speed manual gearbox exclusively.
As a characterful engine, it could run through the revs all the way to the limiter at 8,250 rpm.
