The tannins are fine, perfectly integrated and, in combination with the salinity and freshness, give the 2005 its remarkable, food-friendly structure. This is truly great wine, not in terms of power, but balance, concentration, tension, finesse and elegance. It will age for decades, although it drinks dangerously well even today, at the age of 17. 2003 Kirchberg Sipp- 93 points 2017-2025. The golden-yellow 2003 Grand Cru Kirchberg de Ribeauvillé Riesling is super matured and intense on the nose, but still has the fresh and flinty sandstone character. It's very clear, well defined and enormously deep and complex. On the palate this is gorgeous Riesling, pure and clear, very precise and full of salt and tension. It also has ripe and lush fruit flavors with some exotic fruit and caramel. It is still vital and finessed, and an exciting 2003. It has a silky texture, and salty finish with fine tannins.
