Alessi - Eero Aarnio - Kan - ''Diva'' - Gieter van thermoplastische hars, wit.

For over half a century, and with great consistency, Aarnio has designed brightly coloured furniture and objects with rounded, geometric shapes that allude to a kind of “children’s code.” His works, almost all made in plastic, are short, visual tales that combine features both humorous and playful with precise and explicit functional meanings. The “Diva” Watering can has a comma-like shape thrusting upwards towards the top of the spout, almost an expression of movement even when the object is not in use. The effect is reinforced by the shape of the handle that seems to extend through the body up to the spout. Like many objects by the same designer, “Diva” is also made of polypropylene with the technique of blow moulding. This technology requires the elimination of harsh edges and sharp corners thus leading soft and sinuous shapes that Aarnio has incorporated as part of his aesthetic language. “Diva” has a capacity of 1,5 litres and has been designed to fit a standard-sized sink for ease of filling. This ''Diva'' watering can is in a new condition and has never been used. Delivered with original packaging. Alberto Alessi about the ‘’Diva’’ project: ''Known for such iconic designs as his “Ball Chair” (1966), “Pastil Chair” (1967) and “Bubble Chair” (1968), Finland’s Eero Aarnio is one of the leading innovators in contemporary Scandinavian design. He interests me because I see in him a sort of childlike elder, an eternal boy, always ready to grasp the playful and paradoxical aspects of the design world. In short, a sort of “Scandinavian ludicism” far from the austere professionalism prevalent in Northern Europe design.'' Eero Arnio about the design of de ‘’Diva’’ can: ‘’I believe that above all, utilitarian products should be functional, pleasing to the eye, pleasing to touch, and if they happen to bring a smile to your face all the better. That’s a big plus and sometimes it’s reason enough to buy the product. I remember the smile on Alberto Alessi’s face when I presented my first drawings to him at the beginning of our collaboration. They were designs for the “Diva” Watering can and the little “Mouse” Bottle opener. I think both of them are very functional objects, a little humourous and they turned out to be the first objects selected for production. I approach product design from two different angles: firstly, from a study of the possibilities that new materials bring to the design process and secondly, through creativity based solely on feelings, which in turn brings you closer to art and endless possibilities. When these two approaches are combined, new and surprising products can emerge.’’ About Eero Aarnio (b.1932): The Finnish designer Eero Aarnio (b.1932) is one of the great innovators of modern furniture design. In the 1960s, Eero Aarnio began experimenting with plastics, vivid colors and organic forms, breaking away from traditional design conventions. His now iconic creations echo the pop culture and spirit of their time. Many of Aarnio's works are included in the world's most prestigious museums, including Victoria and Albert Museum in London, MoMA in New York and Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. #parisapartment
