Large, uniquely shaped woven bamboo ikebana flower basket 花籠 (hanakago) boasts an attractive warm brown patina. It features a baluster-shaped body that gracefully widens into a broad neck, complemented by a pair of prominent ring handles. The design seamlessly transitions into a square base towards the bottom. The basket is expertly woven using both thin and broad strands of Susutake 煤竹 ('smoked bamboo'), intricately plaited in a mix of parallel horizontal and oblique lines.
