The printer was somewhat economical with the ink and used two kinds of paper… Greenwood, a notable Victorian journalist, social commentator and novelist, is regarded as one of the pioneers of investigative journalism. From 1861 he began writing adventure stories which were published in Boy's Own and followed this with several adventure books. The Adventures of Reuben Davidger was immensely popular with 19 English editions published between 1865 and 1975. While reading like an adventure narrative it is a work of fiction.
