Born in Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. He graduated from Kagawa Prefectural Crafts School in 1907 (Meiji 40). In 1909 (Meiji 42), he entered the Hakuba-kai Western Painting Research Institute, and later founded the Absinthe-kai with the painter Tetsugoro Yorozu and others. In 1912 (Meiji 45), he graduated from the Japanese Painting Department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. Later, he formed the Japan Print Club with Kiyoshi Hasegawa and Yoshiro Nagase.
He became famous after being selected as a special exhibitor at the 1st and 2nd Teiten exhibitions. He has served as a Teiten judge and a Shinbunten judge.
The tip of the hanging scroll is wood.
He is a master of detail.
