Striking, wide dai 台 (display stand) crafted from a single solid slice of 'Keyaki' burl wood (Zelkova - Japanese oak), featuring tiny, naturally occurring holes arranged in wavy lines and a beautifully natural edge. The surface reveals the exquisite swirling wood grain of the burl wood, all in a deep brown hue enriched with a lovely aged patina.
Ideal for showcasing decorative objects (置物 okimono) or an exquisite ikebana arrangement.
Period: Japan - Taisho period (1912-1926).
In a very good original condition with a small chip from a point (see photo). Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
